An Alcohol Policy provides guidelines on the acceptable use and misuse of alcohol, to ensure a safe environment.

An Alcohol Policy should address the prohibition of alcohol during working hours and also outline expectations regarding alcohol consumption at work functions. In particular, this policy should include the following sections:

-        The purpose and scope;

-        Prohibited behaviour at work;

-        Work events and functions;

-        Health and safety;

-        Testing and monitoring;

-        Disciplinary action; and

-        Policy review and variation.
