Post - Public Holidays

As we approach the Christmas and New Year period, it is crucial to understand the relevant pay and award provisions which may apply to your business.

 We remind you, Christmas Eve (from 6pm to midnight), Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day are considered public holidays in many areas.  As an employer, it is important to ensure your employees are receiving the correct entitlements for these days.  You can do this by referring to the pay guide for the corresponding modern award.

 Additionally, we understand that employees may be required to work additional hours or work outside of their ordinary hours of work during this period.  With that being said, employers should monitor this, as penalty rates may apply.
